The US river cruise company AmaWaterways will open a regional office dedicated to Australia and New Zealand in Sydney next month.
The managing director is Steve Richards, with more than 20 years of experience in the tourism sector.
He was most recently Silversea 's sales director for Australasia.
From now on, Richards will be responsible for all departures in 2025 of the 29 AmaWaterways vessels operating in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, where the company will put two custom-built vessels on the Magdalena River.
“We are very pleased and proud to have Steve join the AmaWaterways team as we launch our entry into the important Australian and New Zealand markets,” said Gary Murphy, co-owner of AmaWaterways.
“Steve will lead a talented sales and marketing team, and we are confident that under his leadership we will build strong and successful relationships with our valued travel partners in both countries,” Murphy said.
“I am very excited to be part of this new chapter in AmaWaterways’ rich history, as we build a strong team in this region,” Richards said.
