The delegation from the Port Authority of A Coruña has taken advantage of its presence at the world's most important trade fair in this sector, Seatrade Cruise Global, to present its excellent forecasts and the opening of the Calvo Sotelo dock as a second berth for transatlantic cruise ships
The Seatrade Cruise Global has once again brought together the entire global cruise industry, with delegates, organizations, and companies from 85 countries. This was a very special edition, marked by the strength of a sector that has fully recovered after the disruption caused by the pandemic and the gradual return to normality.
This is the case of the Port of A Coruña, present once again at this fair, which it attends with a record-breaking schedule, with more than 140 scheduled calls this year and plans to exceed that number in the coming years.

The Port Authority's objective at this meeting was both to present the offer and to retain existing customers and attract business with a product that has grown extraordinarily, with the Port of A Coruña already very consolidated and with international prestige, which has placed it as the leader in northern Spain in number of calls and passengers.
After breaking the record for stops and passengers in the past year, it is expected to surpass that ceiling with 140 stops in 2023 and the forecast to reach more than 160 in 2024.
The representatives of the Coruña delegation presented both the balance of evolution of this year and the forecasts for the year 2024, in which it is expected to further increase the growth trend, exceeding 160 stops.
The delegation, headed by the president of the Port Authority, Martín Fernández Prado, has held meetings with leading shipping companies and industry agents, outlining the latest developments in service offerings.
These include the creation of a new cruise ship docking point at the Calvo Sotelo Sur pier, where the necessary improvements will be made to accommodate large ocean liners and thus meet the growing demand, which involves numerous multiple stops.
Fernández Prado also outlined the measures adopted to support the commitment to sustainability of shipping companies, which will be provided with electricity for their ships during their port calls in the short and medium term.
In addition, the president of the Port Authority has presented the measures focused on excellence in the service to ships and passengers, as well as environmental sustainability, which is a priority objective throughout the sector.
Thus, he pointed out that the Port of A Coruña will support the shipping companies' commitment to improving energy efficiency and reducing their carbon footprint with measures such as supplying electricity to ships during their time in port, so that they can obtain this energy during their stay in the city.
Regarding passenger service, Fernández Prado highlighted that, “in addition to consolidating the high number of port calls, we are dedicating more effort to the crews to improve the cruise passenger experience, starting from an already very high level of satisfaction.”.
