Everything is in place to begin the inaugural season of Seabourn Pursuit, which will cruise the Mediterranean this summer with itineraries ranging from 7 to 19 days, being inaugurated on August 12 on its route from Valletta to Barcelona.
Seabourn's second polar expedition-class ship has a capacity for 264 guests, with 132 oceanfront suites, all with verandas, and a crew of 120. The ship is designed to navigate icy regions such as Antarctica and the Arctic according to PC6 Polar Class standards, featuring state-of-the-art maritime technology to venture to any point on the planet.
The launch of this new ship coincides with the recent appointment of Natalya Leahy as the new president of Seabourn, replacing Josh Leibowitz. Leahy worked for seven years at Holland America Group and held various positions at Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola. She will report to Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line.
Among the new features of the Seabourn Pursuit is the addition of two submarines, 24 zodiacs, kayaks and an expedition team of 26 specialists (only on its expedition itineraries), all of this added to the marine platform that is available to practice and enjoy all kinds of nautical activities such as sailing, diving or jet skiing.
From the Constellation Lounge, one of the highlights, the few guests on board can enjoy a glass-enclosed lounge with stunning 270-degree views, as well as the Expedition Lounge, located on deck 4, a meeting space where you can relax and share your onboard experiences while enjoying the extensive cocktail and wine list from around the world.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Seabourn Pursuit will travel to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, and sail the South Pacific from Chile to Melanesia. It will also visit Antarctica and the Arctic, Greenland and Iceland, and venture into northern Australia, where the new Seabourn ship will operate itineraries between June and August.
Inaugural Seabourn Pursuit Itineraries
Sailing through the Mediterranean between August and September, you will visit the tranquil, monumental and historic port cities of the Mediterranean such as Taormina, Amalfi, St. Tropez, Cinque Terre, Marseille or Palma de Mallorca.
Starting from different home ports such as Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Monte Carlo in Monaco, or Valletta in Malta, the Seabourn Pursuit will make several itineraries with stops in ports outside the crowded cruise routes such as Portovenere (Italy), La Joliette and Antibes (France), or Palamós, central point of the magnificent Costa Brava.
On August 12, it will depart from the port of Valletta—on its inaugural voyage—and will spend eight nights exploring some of the most charming ports in the Western Mediterranean. The itinerary includes visits to Giardini and Lipari in Sicily, Amalfi in Italy, St. Tropez on the French Riviera, Ajaccio in Corsica, and Golfo Aranci in Sardinia, before arriving in Civitavecchia, near Rome.
It will set sail from Barcelona on August 27th and from Monte Carlo on September 3rd, where it will make 2 itineraries connecting both ports on two routes that continue to include ports outside the most visited destinations in summer.
