Windstar Cruises has canceled its scheduled Asia cruises for fall 2022.
The move will affect seven itineraries planned on the Star Breeze, including a Pacific crossing from Alaska to Japan, two Greater Japan sailings, Island Hopping Japan, Windstar Crew Hometowns: Philippines and Indonesia, Hidden Indonesia & the Great Barrier Reef, and Edge of the Outback.
Instead, the Star Breeze will extend its Alaskan season with an additional itinerary (Alaskan Splendors) in late August, followed by the West Coast Epicurean Extravaganza along the U.S. coast, a transatlantic voyage from San Diego to Tahiti, and five sailings through French Polynesia.
In October 2022, Windstar will celebrate its 35th anniversary of operating cruises in Tahiti, being one of the first lines to offer overnight cruises in the region. All sailings aboard Wind Spirit and Star Breeze in Tahiti will join the celebration with special events planned throughout the cruise.
On November 11, the Star Breeze will depart for a transatlantic voyage to Sydney and arrive on November 22 for a pre-scheduled charter cruise. On December 4, it will sail the Treasures of the Tasman Sea: Fjords of New Zealand and South Australia itinerary, Windstar's first commercial cruise offered in the region. 2022 marks the first time Windstar has offered full itineraries to New Zealand and Australia, visiting small, rarely visited ports of call such as Middle Percy Island.
“As Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, and South Korea remain closed to cruise ships, Windstar joins several other cruise lines in making this decision to cancel its Asia cruises for the fall,” said Windstar Cruises President Christopher Prelog. “We look forward to our guests rebooking these same fantastic itineraries next year.”.
