The urban community “Le Havre Seine Métropole” and the port authority “Haropa Port” have been committed since 2018 in their partnership to develop cruise activity and redevelop Pointe de Floride, in line with the urban development works carried out on the waterfront, pursuing the objective of developing the economic impact of cruises and offering a better service to make the port of Le Havre a benchmark for cruises.

These objectives entail new investments and the establishment of a new operating framework. The works program includes the construction of three cruise terminals, the replacement of existing facilities, and the electrification of the three berths. In total, €90 million will be invested in the Pointe de Floride site, solely for cruise ships.
– Dock electrification:
Electrical supply systems will be installed at the three docks dedicated to cruise ships. Work will begin next winter.
– Three new terminals:
Two new terminals will be built, starting with the South Dock, with the complete renovation of two existing hangars connected by a central area. The North Terminal, facing the city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will also benefit from a new construction.
Work has already begun and is ongoing. New covered walkways are being built, featuring an intermediate podium to reduce the slope caused by tides. The urban development project also includes parking spaces and a landscaped waterfront promenade.
The works will be carried out from 2023 to 2025 in a way that minimizes disruption to cruise operations. Le Havre currently receives between 350,000 and 400,000 passengers annually. The Cruise Vision project aims to reach 600,000 passengers by 2030.
