The Board of Directors of the Port of Barcelona has approved, in an extraordinary meeting, the relocation of Terminal Port Nou, managed by Bergé, from the Adossat Wharf to the Príncep d'Espanya Wharf. The relocation will take place this year and allows for the completion of the Adossat Wharf's redevelopment plan to concentrate cruise traffic there.
The agreement reached between the Port of Barcelona and Terminal Port Nou will allow for compliance with the agreement reached with the Barcelona City Council in January 2018, which limits the number of international cruise terminals to a maximum of seven. These terminals will be grouped together at the Adossat Wharf, thereby freeing up space at the Barcelona Wharf (World Trade Center) for public use. The Drassanes ferry terminal (currently used by Baleària) will also be relocated to Adossat, freeing up this space and making it available for public use.
The concentration of passenger traffic at the Adossat dock was already foreseen in the Port of Barcelona's Port Area and Use Delimitation (DEUP). Today's approval of the relocation of Terminal Port Nou to the Príncep d'Espanya dock concludes a process initiated with the concessionaire in the fall of 2019.
