Genoa, June 12, 2018.Costa Cruises reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable approach to onboard dining and presents a project aimed at the youngest guests on its ships. The new initiative, created in collaboration with Barilla, the University of Parma, and Madegus – Masters of Taste – seeks to encourage children to learn about healthy eating habits, even on vacation.

Costa Cruises has completely revamped its children's menu, basing it on the principles of the Mediterranean diet and a variety of foods. Pasta, fruit, and vegetables are some of the key ingredients in the new dishes. This allows parents traveling on board to include foods in their children's diets that promote physical and mental growth, ensuring they maintain good eating habits, even while on vacation.
In this way, the company aims to raise children's awareness of the importance of food and proper nutrition. To this end, Costa has designed a menu featuring a fun and educational game.
The little ones can choose from seven different menu options, each with a name: Red Planet, Yellow Planet, White Planet, Purple Planet, Green Planet, Hidden Secret, and Rainbow . Crescenza cheese with carrot slices, legumes in tomato sauce with tuna, olives, and mozzarella cheese, or five-grain fusilli pasta with vegetable carbonara are just some of the delicious dishes on this menu.
When young guests choose one of the seven menus served in the Main Restaurant or during lunch with the Squok Club staff, they will receive a pack of 10 trading cards, designed by the renowned Italian illustrator Fogliazza. These cards feature original, colorful characters representing the five colors of fruits and vegetables. Children can then collect and trade their cards (from a collection of 85) and continue the game once they get home.
In this way, Costa becomes a spokesperson for responsible behavior and healthy lifestyle principles through an initiative that directly involves ship guests and staff. The aim is for the ships to feel like a real home, where unforgettable experiences are shared and where people, especially younger generations, can think about the future.
