With the arrival of the Sovereign ship at the Port of Barcelona where its European season begins, 36 children from the Escola Alexandre Galí (Barcelona) and 23 children of Pullmantur Cruises employees participated this morning in 'Captain for a Day', the international educational and recreational program promoted by the shipping company.
Thus, the schoolchildren visited the main facilities of the Sovereign along with some members of the crew, who accompanied the participants at all times.
They also had the opportunity to experience life on board and greet the Captain, who didn't want to miss the activity. They also enjoyed an exclusive acrobatic and juggling show prepared by the Entertainment Team.
Richard J. Vogel, President & CEO of Pullmantur Cruises, stated, “We are delighted that more and more children—from the cities where we have embarkation ports—are getting to know one of our ships.” He also noted that “it’s incredible how much joy and excitement these schoolchildren experience this activity and how they connect with the Entertainment Team, who quickly become their best friends.” He also expressed his gratitude to the Captain and all the crew members of the Sovereign “for their effort and dedication in making this activity a complete success and ensuring the children take away an unforgettable memory of their day on board.”.
'Captain for a Day' is a fun and educational program that was created in May 2015 with the aim of bringing Pullmantur Cruises and what life on board is like closer to schoolchildren in the cities where the shipping company has a port of embarkation.
To date, this program has been carried out in Colombia (Cartagena de Indias), Spain (Barcelona, La Coruña, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Vigo) and Portugal (Lisbon).
