In 2017, select Cunard will feature renowned speakers who will give talks about their work and life on board as part of what will be known as Cunard Insights. The company will offer a selection of special cruises featuring writers, actors, directors, or athletes. Passengers will also be invited to participate in the talks.
One of the most notable appearances will be that of actor Bryan Batt (Mad Men, Ugly Betty, and NCIS: New Orleans). He has also acted in the stage productions Beauty and the Beast, Cats, and Sunset Boulevard. In addition, he had a starring role in the film 12 Years a Slave, winner of three Academy Awards.
Batt will be aboard the Queen Mary 2 on the cruise departing from New York for Southampton on September 7, 2017. Passengers will also be able to enjoy a cabaret starring Bryan Batt, which has been a hit in Great Britain and the United States.
Peter James will be aboard the Queen Victoria for its 25-day voyage departing from Southampton. James is an international best-selling author. He created the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series and has sold 18 million copies worldwide. His crime novels have been number one on the best-seller lists 11 times in a row.
Maria Friedman, the three-time Olivier Award-winning English actress, will be aboard the Queen Mary 2 on its cruise departing from Southampton on May 24, 2017. She has directed and starred in shows and musicals on Broadway and in London's West End. Passengers will enjoy her show in the ship's Royal Court Theatre.
On March 19, 2017, the Queen Victoria will depart from Wellington and sail for 18 days to San Francisco. This cruise will feature Elizabeth Linder, who founded and built Facebook's policy and governance division. She also advises and studies diplomats, politicians, and government officials.
Sally Gunellwill also participate in these conferences organized by Cunard for its 2017 cruises. The British athlete competed in the 400-meter hurdles and is the only woman to have won Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth titles. She will embark on the Queen Mary 2 on October 13th, where she will give her presentation.
Tim Collins , a British officer in the Iraq War, became famous for his powerful speech on the eve of the battle in Kuwait. He will be aboard the Queen Mary 2 on July 6th, departing from New York for an 8-day cruise.
David Morgan-Hewitt is the Director of The Goring Hotel in London, where the Duchess of Cambridge spent the night before her wedding to Prince William. Morgan-Hewitt will give his lecture on the Queen Mary 2 aboard the cruise ship departing from Southampton on July 13.
Bill Bryson, author of the novel A Walk in the Woods, which later became the film starring Robert Redford, will be on board the Queen Victoria on September 23 to give his lecture while sailing through the Mediterranean.
Although the speaker program has been confirmed, it may be subject to change due to cancellations or alterations to some of the presentations. If this occurs, Cunard passengers will not receive compensation.
