On July 13th, the luxury cruise line Regent Seven Seas officially inaugurated the new Seven Seas Explorer when its godmother, Princess Charlene of Monaco, cut the red velvet ribbon and smashed a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne. The ceremony took place in Monte Carlo, one of the world's most glamorous cities, and included a private concert by renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
“This is truly a special moment, not only for Regent Seven Seas Cruises but also for the entire Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings family,” shared Frank del Rio, president of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. “Tonight we celebrate the realization of our dream. Seven Seas Explorer is not only the most luxurious ship in the world – it sets a new standard for luxury vacations and marks the beginning of what Regent Seven Seas Cruises will continue to build upon. We have begun a massive $125 million refurbishment to ensure that every ship in our fleet lives up to the luxury established on Explorer, and we will introduce a sister ship in 2020.”.
During the inauguration ceremony, Del Rio reflected on the humanitarian efforts undertaken by Her Highness as part of the “Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation”. The foundation’s main mission is to save lives by teaching children and adults basic drinking water techniques.
“It is an honor to be the godmother of this incredible ship, the Seven Seas Explorer. I am very excited about the agreement reached today between my foundation and Norwegian Cruise Line Holding to implement my Water Safety program on all their ships. Raising awareness of the risks associated with water environments is, for me, the most important cause,” commented Princess Charlene.
