Modernization work successfully completed during the stay in Hamburg.
600 specialists, from 80 mostly international companies, spent the last two weeks working on renovations, repairs and various structural elements on the ship in order to modernize it.
Over 4,500 square meters (15,000 square feet) of new carpeting and 2,000 liters (528 pounds) of paint were applied to the ship. The modernization work focused primarily on the Sansibar. The most popular bar on board was given a new look and is now even more authentic, with wood paneling, room dividers shaped like wine crates with built-in seating, and a "spider" consisting of 1,000 wine bottles, giving the Sansibar a true beach bar atmosphere.
After its modernization, the family's eight apartments were adjusted to the needs of family groups, with a section of each divided suite dedicated especially for children and teenagers, this includes a diaper changing table, children's bathroom with bathtub, bunk beds (one of these is a sofa bed), a fun area with a party table and a game console (PS4).
Sakura Sushi Restaurant was also redesigned, featuring a new color scheme with warm violet tones, wooden lighting, and room dividers that incorporate LED lighting. The ambiance now matches that of a Japanese sushi restaurant.
At 18:00 CEST this afternoon, after spending two weeks in dry dock and now shining like new, the EUROPA 2 will set sail on its eight-day cruise from Hamburg to Hamburg via Rouen/France, Antwerp/Belgium, Ghent/Belgium and Amsterdam/Netherlands.
