The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has created a regional office in Catalonia, with a new director, Martí Sáez, whose objective is to strengthen the organization's institutional presence in a territory that is strategic for the cruise industry.
With this addition, CLIA strengthens its structure in Catalonia to consolidate relationships with the main agents in the sector, especially around the ports of Barcelona and Tarragona, two key infrastructures for the development of cruise activity in the Mediterranean.
The new director will be responsible for maintaining ongoing communication with public administrations, institutions, the maritime and port community, the tourism sector, and key stakeholders. Their work will focus on fostering information exchange, dialogue, and collaboration between the association and the various actors involved in the sector.
According to Alfredo Serrano, CLIA's director in Spain, the creation of this new position reflects the association's commitment to Catalonia and to the sustainable development of the cruise industry.
“The creation of the CLIA director position in Catalonia reflects the sector’s commitment to the Catalan region and the importance of ports like Barcelona, a global benchmark, and Tarragona. Their experience and knowledge of the Catalan environment will be key to continuing to foster a close and rigorous relationship with the local ecosystem, while we move forward together towards a sustainable, balanced tourism model that generates value for the region,” Serrano points out.
For his part, Martí Sáez emphasized that he is approaching this new phase with the goal of further strengthening collaboration between the industry and the region. “My commitment is to contribute to strengthening the dialogue between the sector and the Catalan community, fostering collaborative spaces that allow us to address the present and future of the cruise industry with rigor, active listening, and progress toward shared models,” he stated.
A specialist in corporate communication, public affairs and institutional relations, Martí Sáez has extensive experience in strategic communication, political communication and consulting, advising both companies and institutions on communication, positioning and institutional relations.
He holds a degree in Journalism and Corporate Communication from the Ramon Llull-Blanquerna University and a Master's degree in Political and Corporate Communication from the University of Navarra, training which he has completed with a specialized program in Political Communications & Public Affairs at the George Washington University.
With this appointment, CLIA reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its institutional presence in Catalonia, considered a strategic territory for the sector, and to continue promoting a growth model based on dialogue, collaboration and the sustainable development of the cruise industry.
