Holland America Line 's Zuiderdam will be the next ship to join its Holland America Evolution program, which will bring some of the most distinctive experiences of the Pinnacle class to this vessel as part of the biggest fleet renewal in the company's 153-year history.
In addition to revealing which ship will be the next to receive these upgrades, the cruise line unveiled for the first time the concept images of the new Pinnacle Suites and Bridgeview Suites, offering a preview of the interior of these exclusive accommodation categories, which will be one of the highlights of the ship's transformation.
Building on the success of the Oosterdam, the Zuiderdam is the second of six ships announced under the Holland America Evolution program. The upgrades will expand accommodation options with the addition of a completely redesigned Pinnacle Suite, two new Bridgeview Suites, 14 Vista Suites, and 32 Solo Verandah staterooms, offering guests more choices without compromising the ship's signature spaciousness.
In addition, all accommodations will be renovated, and the ship will feature the popular Grand Dutch Café. Bookings for Zuiderdam cruises after its Evolution transformation will open on July 30.
“We’ve seen tremendous interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandah staterooms on the Oosterdam, and we’re thrilled to be offering these new options on the Zuiderdam as well,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line. “We’re building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon.”.
Taken together, these improvements represent the next phase of the Holland America Evolution program, which will continue to be progressively extended to the rest of the fleet.
New cabins and suites expand the options for guests
As part of the Evolution program, the Zuiderdam will introduce new cabin and suite categories, as well as renovate existing accommodations to meet current traveler preferences. Highlights include:
- Bridgeview Suites: Two suites located above the bridge offering spectacular panoramic views towards the bow, wraparound windows, private balcony and separate living and sleeping areas, designed to maximize natural light and sea views.
- Solo Verandahs: cabins created specifically for solo travelers, each with a private balcony and a design intended to offer maximum comfort to a single guest.
- Vista Suites: one of the most popular categories among passengers on Pinnacle-class ships. They offer spacious, light-filled rooms, a living area, large windows, and a private balcony, and will now be available on the Zuiderdam as well.
- Redesigned Pinnacle Suite: The ship's most exclusive accommodation will be completely renovated to offer a residential-style experience, with more spacious rooms, higher-quality finishes, and panoramic ocean views.
The Grand Dutch Café arrives at Zuiderdam
As part of the Evolution program, the Zuiderdam will incorporate the Grand Dutch Café, extending one of the most characteristic experiences of the Pinnacle class to more ships.
Inspired by the coffee tradition of the Netherlands and the relaxed atmosphere of cafes in Amsterdam and Northern Europe, this space is designed as a welcoming place to meet at any time of day.
Guests can enjoy an espresso in the morning, a beer or a snack in the afternoon, or share a light bite in the evening. With its social atmosphere, comfortable seating, and accessible menu, the Grand Dutch Café reflects the relaxed and elegant style that characterizes Holland America Line.
The Zuiderdam establishment will be the largest Grand Dutch Café incorporated to date within the Evolution program.
Bookings open for the first cruises on the Oosterdam after its renovation
The Oosterdam will be the first ship to debut its Evolution transformation, officially inaugurating this new phase of fleet renewal. Bookings are now open for its first itineraries following the refurbishment, allowing passengers to experience firsthand its new cabins, renovated spaces, and expanded public areas.
The company has announced that it will soon release more details about the Holland America Evolution program and the future transformations planned for the rest of the fleet.
