Oceania Cruises is one of the leading cruise lines in the contemporary luxury segment, thanks to a proposition that combines high-level gastronomy, destination-focused itineraries, and a more intimate onboard experience than the industry average.
In recent years, the company has intensified a process of updating its product and fleet, with the aim of strengthening its position in an increasingly competitive and demanding market, starting with the renovation of some ships under its OceaniaNEXT brand and continuing soon with the renovation of the Oceania Marina, consisting of a far-reaching intervention that affects virtually all areas of the ship and redefines its onboard experience.
The project does not respond solely to aesthetic criteria, but to a broader product evolution strategy, with the aim of homogenizing the level of its current ships with that of its future additions, consolidating a more coherent, modern and competitive experience across the entire brand.
The changes begin with the cabins, which will be completely redesigned to offer a greater sense of space and comfort. New interior designs, updated furnishings, and an aesthetic closer to that of a contemporary luxury hotel will be incorporated.
The bathrooms will also be completely transformed, with marble finishes, updated lighting and larger "rainforest" style showers, reinforcing a more modern and functional experience.
The higher-category suites—Penthouse, Oceania, Vista, and Owner's Suites—will follow the same upgrade path, with improvements to finishes, textiles, and equipment, aiming for aesthetic and product consistency across the entire fleet. This approach responds to the need to maintain a uniform standard in the company's premium segment.
The public areas will also undergo a major renovation. Bars, lounges, and common areas will adopt a more contemporary aesthetic through the incorporation of new materials, lighting, and furnishings. A highlight of this process is the expansion of the Grand Lounge, which will include the new Founders Bar, a space dedicated to signature cocktails and high-end beverages, featuring artisanal offerings and premium selections.
Gastronomy, one of Oceania Cruises' long-standing pillars, will play a central role in this renovation. Iconic restaurants such as Polo Grill, Red Ginger, Toscana, and Jacques will be updated in both design and kitchen equipment, reinforcing the quality and consistency of the onboard culinary experience. In addition, a new Chef's Studio will be added, a space dedicated to culinary demonstrations, hands-on classes, and tastings, replacing the ship's previous creative concept.
Another notable addition will be the integration of a bakery within the Baristas café, allowing for an expanded selection of pastries and freshly baked goods throughout the day. This addition reinforces the industry's trend toward a more experiential gastronomy, even in informal settings.
On the exterior decks, the work will focus on improving the comfort of the relaxation areas, with the installation of new sun loungers and daybeds, creating an environment more akin to that of a luxury resort. These improvements reflect the growing importance of outdoor spaces in the overall passenger experience.
Gastronomy, well-being, and the creation of new social spaces have become key elements of each intervention, aligned with the experiential luxury philosophy that the company wants to consolidate throughout its fleet.
With the refurbishment of the Oceania Marina, which will begin in October 2026, Oceania Cruises is reinforcing its commitment to a more modern and experiential luxury model, in which product consistency, design, and gastronomy become key pillars for competing in an increasingly demanding segment. This transformation not only updates the ship but also consolidates a long-term strategy aimed at maintaining the brand's relevance in the evolving industry.
Following its complete refurbishment, the Oceania Marina is scheduled to resume service in November with Mediterranean itineraries, including a 10-night cruise from Barcelona to Rome, followed by a 25-night transatlantic voyage from Rome to Miami. It will then operate Caribbean cruises from Miami in December, including special Christmas and New Year's sailings.
