The third ship in Royal Caribbean 's revolutionary Icon class will begin its European voyages in the summer of 2026. With a gross tonnage of over 250,000 and a capacity to accommodate more than 7,000 passengers at maximum occupancy, the vessel ranks among the largest cruise ships ever built. Its arrival continues the evolution begun by the Icon of the Seas and followed by the Star of the Seas, solidifying a generation of ships designed to redefine the vacation experience at sea.

Beyond its sheer size, the Legend of the Seas represents a new way of conceiving onboard space. The ship is organized like a floating city divided into eight themed neighborhoods, each with its own distinct identity and rhythm.
This structure allows the passenger to move between very different environments within the same ship, from vibrant areas dedicated to adventure to spaces designed for rest or gastronomy.
The upper decks house the ship's most dynamic area, a space dedicated to adrenaline and spectacular experiences. Here you'll find Crown's Edge, one of the most innovative attractions in the Icon class: a circuit suspended over the sea that combines rope bridges, walkways, and a swing-like experience that launches riders over the ocean. Nearby is Category 6, the largest water park at sea, with six enormous slides that make this part of the ship one of the epicenters of activity during the day. The offerings are rounded out by the rock-climbing wall and the surf simulator, two Royal Caribbean classics that remain major draws for the most active passengers.
In contrast to this intensity, other areas of the ship invite you to slow down. Several pools and jacuzzis are distributed throughout spacious outdoor areas, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a sophisticated seaside resort. Among them, the Hideaway Pool stands out—an infinity pool suspended eight decks above the ocean that has become one of the most recognizable images of the new class of ships. Surrounding it, lounge areas, ambient music, and bar service create a relaxed ambiance that contrasts with the energy of the sports facilities.

The design also includes an entire district dedicated to families. This area features water play areas, casual restaurants, and accommodations designed for multigenerational travel. At the other end of the spectrum lies one of the ship's most elegant spaces: Central Park. This open-air garden, a hallmark of Royal Caribbean's larger vessels, is home to thousands of natural plants, creating a small green oasis in the middle of the ocean. Surrounded by specialty restaurants and tranquil terraces, the space is an ideal spot for an evening stroll or to enjoy small live concerts in a much more intimate setting than the ship's central areas.
Another major attraction is the AquaDome, located at the top of the ship under a large glass structure with panoramic sea views. During the day, the space is filled with natural light, but at night it transforms into a sophisticated aquatic theater where stage technology, advanced lighting, and a transformable waterfall serve as the backdrop for acrobatic shows featuring high-flying dives.
Meanwhile, the ship's social life revolves around the Royal Promenade, a wide interior avenue that serves as the vessel's main artery. Along this space, shops, cafes, themed bars, and ice cream parlors keep the atmosphere lively at all hours. In the evenings, parades, shows, and live music transform this area into one of the ship's most popular meeting places.
The offering is rounded out by the Suite Neighborhood, a space reserved for suite guests that features a private restaurant, an exclusive solarium, and personalized services. This concept reflects the growing importance of the premium segment within contemporary large cruise ships, combining the size of megaships with more exclusive levels of service.

Balcony cabins remain the most popular choice, offering open spaces with views of the sea that enhance the feeling of spaciousness. Family categories incorporate more flexible configurations with separate areas for adults and children, designed for group travel or multi-generational groups.
At the most exclusive end of the spectrum are the ship's suites, some of which are located within the aforementioned Suite Neighborhood, where guests enjoy access to private restaurants, reserved lounge areas, and more personalized service. Among the most spectacular options is the Ultimate Family Townhouse, designed as a true private residence on board, spread over three floors and equipped with its own leisure spaces.

Entertainment has historically been one of Royal Caribbean's pillars, and Legend of the Seas is no exception. Onboard, large-scale theatrical and musical productions will be presented in spaces specially designed for immersive shows.
Among the highlights is a production inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, combining elaborate sets, advanced stage technology, and a production designed for the whole family. This is complemented by acrobatic shows in the AquaDome, live musical performances in various areas of the ship, and ice shows on the rink—a tradition closely associated with the company. The variety of experiences aims to ensure that every passenger finds their own entertainment rhythm, from grand nighttime shows to more intimate performances in bars and lounges located throughout the ship.

The ship's culinary offerings also reflect this diversity. In addition to the restaurants included in the cruise fare and the traditional buffet, Legend of the Seas will feature several conceptual dining experiences that transform food into a narrative. One of the most innovative is Royal Railway – Legend Station, a restaurant where the ambiance recreates a journey on a classic train. Through visual effects, sound, and theatrical storytelling, diners embark on a five-course gastronomic journey inspired by different culinary cultures.
Another highlight will be the Hollywood Supper Club, which evokes the glamour of Hollywood's golden age with live jazz, creative cocktails, and a dinner that pays homage to film history. Meanwhile, the AquaDome Market will bring together various international food stations with dishes ranging from Asian cuisine to Italian specialties and freshly made pizzas.
Innovation and Sustainability:
The Legend of the Seas also incorporates significant advancements in sustainability. The ship will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a fuel that significantly reduces emissions of sulfur oxides, particulate matter, and carbon dioxide compared to conventional marine fuels. In addition, the vessel integrates waste heat recovery systems to improve energy efficiency, advanced waste management technologies, and optimized water consumption. It is also equipped to connect to shore power, allowing the engines to be shut down while docked when port infrastructure permits.
Following its maiden voyage in July, the ship will be based in Barcelona. Starting in August 2026, the Legend of the Seas will operate weekly seven-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean, departing from Barcelona and Rome and visiting destinations such as Marseille, La Spezia, Naples, and Palma de Mallorca.
At the end of the European season, the ship will make a transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, where it will begin operating Caribbean itineraries from November 2026.
With the arrival of the Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International once again points to the Mediterranean, and particularly to Barcelona, as one of the most important destinations for cruise tourism on a global scale.
