Adora Cruises has taken a key step in its growth strategy by entering the final phase of construction of its second large domestically built cruise ship, the Adora Flower City , while announcing new fleet expansion plans focused on the international market.
The new ship will enter service in late 2026 and represents a significant evolution from its first ship, the Adora Magic City. Based on a design developed by Carnival Corporation and Fincantieri, the Adora Flower City has been expanded to offer greater capacity, innovation, and a more complete onboard experience.
With a gross tonnage of 141,900 and a length of 341 meters, the new ship boasts a more streamlined and elegant silhouette. Its larger size has allowed for optimized spaces, an increase in the number of cabins to 2,130, and a redesign of both private and public areas, including a larger central atrium.
The onboard offerings reinforce the brand's positioning, featuring 26 restaurants and bars, a theater, a gym and spa, an expanded shopping area, and dedicated spaces for families. Furthermore, it incorporates interactive technology in the cabins and a floral-inspired design, in keeping with its name and its connection to Guangzhou, known as the "City of Flowers." The company also highlights a greater integration of Chinese culture into the cruise experience.
The ship was built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), through Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. The project reflects a high level of technical complexity, with thousands of integrated systems, over 4,700 kilometers of cabling, and millions of components. Initiated in August 2022, the process has reduced construction time by eight months compared to the first vessel, improving efficiency by more than 20%.
The Adora Flower City will begin sea trials in May before its final delivery and will be based in Guangzhou Nansha, reinforcing the company's presence in southern China, while the Adora Magic City operates from Shanghai and the Adora Mediterranea from Xiamen.
In parallel, Adora Cruises has signed a memorandum of understanding with CSSC for the construction of two new cruise ships, with an option for a third. These future vessels will feature a proprietary design, and the first is scheduled to enter service starting in 2030.
With these initiatives, Adora Cruises is advancing its goal of expanding its operations beyond the domestic market, with a clear commitment to international growth and the development of an increasingly competitive and differentiated cruise offering.
