HX Expeditions has announced its expedition dedicated to the 2026 Solar Eclipse, which will sail along the coasts of Greenland, Iceland, and Svalbard in August. This time, reinforcing its commitment to responsible tourism, the company has confirmed the participation of three international experts who will accompany travelers during this unique experience.
The cruise will depart from Oslo and travel through some of the most remote and spectacular regions on the planet, passing through the Arctic waters of Svalbard before reaching Scoresby Sund on the east coast of Greenland. This is the world's largest fjord system and an exceptional location for observing the phenomenon.
The itinerary combines extreme adventure in the Arctic with the possibility of witnessing one of the most impressive celestial spectacles of the decade.
The three renowned speakers who will be traveling on board during the voyage are: Rahul Venkatraman, engineer for the NASA Artemis program and astrophotographer; Dr. Daisy Dobrijevic, a leading editor at Space.com; and Dr. Hans Wilhelm Zekl, PhD, a
science communicator at astronomie.de and a prestigious astrophysicist who has led observations of solar eclipses since 1990.
Throughout the journey, experts will share their knowledge with participants, offering in-depth insights into the science and history of eclipses, as well as astrophotography. Their contributions will transform the expedition into a
first-rate educational experience, fostering an awareness of the world's natural ecosystems
and promoting respect for nature while enjoying a unique adventure.
Dr. Verena Meraldi, chief scientist at HX, who will be on board the expedition ship, emphasizes that the journey goes far beyond the astronomical phenomenon: “It is a unique opportunity to learn from true scientific experts, explore the wild beauty of the Arctic and connect with cultures and traditions shaped by this environment and by the celestial cycles.”.
With this expedition, HX not only continues to offer unique routes to participants, but also consolidates its commitment to onboard learning and experiences that generate a positive impact on both travelers and the destinations visited.
