Amangati, the floating sanctuary of Aman at Sea

The renowned ultra-luxury hotel house Aman is taking a step towards its first ocean-going vessel, the superyacht Amangati, which will inaugurate a new way of traveling in 2027, offering Aman's characteristically understated elegance but at sea.

Article from CruisesNews magazine no. 75 – December 2025

AmangatiSince its initial opening in 1988, Aman has established itself as synonymous with ultra-luxury retreats where architecture, location, and understated elegance are paramount. Hotels and resorts such as Amanpuri, Amankila, Aman Tokyo, and others have cultivated a loyal clientele that appreciates serene design and personalized experiences. Amangangati aims to deliver precisely that promise—the tranquility and privacy of Aman—while offering mobility and direct access to cultural landmarks and select ports.

Aman at Sea is Aman's new maritime chapter. In 2021, Aman decided to expand its philosophy to the sea under the name Aman at Sea. In 2025, the company announced the name of its first ship, Amangati—"peaceful movement" in Sanskrit—a symbol of fluidity, elegance, and calm.

Aman at Sea is a joint venture between Aman Group and Cruise Saudi, designed to bring to the sea the same standard of discretion, spaciousness, and handcrafted hospitality for which Aman is renowned. Conceived as a private "village" on the water rather than a conventional cruise ship, Aman at Sea promises bespoke experiences for a discerning clientele seeking privacy, design, and thoughtfully curated cultural adventures.

Design, luxury, and essence: Aman
Amangati embodies a clear trend: ultra-high-end tourism favoring intimate yachts over large-capacity vessels. For the industry, the arrival of a hotel brand with Aman's prestige at sea intensifies competition in the ultra-luxury segment, pushing designers, shipyards, and operators to raise standards in service, privacy, and design. Furthermore, the charter option positions the yacht as a platform for high-value events such as product launches, private meetings, and VIP celebrations.

The ship is being built at the T. Mariotti SpA shipyard in Genoa, Italy, following the keel-laying ceremony held in 2023. Amangati will be 183 meters long with a profile more comparable to that of a luxury superyacht than a traditional cruise ship.

Designed to evoke a sense of elemental calm inspired by the interior architecture of a Japanese ryokan, Amangati's 47 suites are a study in understated elegance. All will feature a private balcony and range in size from approximately 50m² to 180m², with some even including a terrace or plunge pool with direct access to the sea.

The gently curved ceilings and floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows will bathe the wood-toned interiors in natural light, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness and openness. Textured materials add warmth and tactile appeal, extending the pure design aesthetic for which Aman is renowned.

The private terraces open directly onto the sea, extending the view to the horizon. Ten additional host suites provide extra space for the service team.

Located at the stern of deck 5, the Aman Suite will be the most opulent accommodation on Amangati, with access by private elevator and 183m2 + 170m2 of terrace and combinable with the adjoining suite to create a two-bedroom accommodation.

The private elevator opens to a panoramic living and dining room with full-height wraparound windows, custom bar, and dining table.

Warm wooden floors and gently curving ceilings lead to the bedroom, which opens onto a spacious teak terrace with sun loungers, a hot tub, and uninterrupted views of the horizon. The Aman Suite is a tailor-made canvas for family celebrations, intimate dinners, or memorable parties under the stars.

There are also 14 Deluxe Suites available of approximately 50m2 and a 16m2 terrace.

The interiors have been designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, reflecting a minimalist aesthetic and noble materials of wood, travertine stone as well as the characteristic luminosity of Aman, that is to say, floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings and high-level finishes.

Amangati promises a holistic experience that brings the philosophy of the Aman al Mar resorts to the sea, with a complete spa with a Japanese garden, designed to offer serenity and connection with the environment.

In addition, the ship will offer fine dining in a serenely elegant and refined atmosphere. There will be four international dining concepts, including a signature Japanese restaurant by Aman and Mediterranean or grill options, plus a jazz club for intimate and sophisticated evenings.

Amangati's restaurants follow the rhythms and rituals of seasonality and tradition, based on the purity of fresh, organic ingredients.

From the refined Japanese cuisine of Enju to the essence of fire at Aman Grill, each gastronomic experience is naturally integrated into moments of relaxation and discovery.

Of particular note is the Beach Club and its private marina, a rear area with direct access to the sea, ideal for swimming, setting up water sports nets or simply relaxing in front of the horizon.

Six luxurious tender boats allow private transfers, sunset cruises and exclusive excursions, with chilled towels and exclusive drinks on board.

Two helipads provide direct access for VIP guests. The aft helipad on Deck 9 can be transformed into a spectacular space for private events.

The yacht will incorporate green technologies, including the ability to operate on battery power, with the aim of reducing its ecological footprint.

The whole creates what Aman calls a “floating sanctuary” of spaciousness, extremely discreet service and intimate comfort, as if you were in a private villa sailing the sea.

Launching in 2027,
Aman has announced that Amangati will begin its inaugural season in the Mediterranean during the summer of 2027, with itineraries designed to combine iconic ports and secluded anchorages, allowing for exclusive experiences such as private tours of cultural heritage sites, privileged access to marinas, and more. In addition to Mediterranean routes, the business plan includes deploying the ship "beyond the Mediterranean Sea" according to seasonality and demand, and making it available for private charters that can create customized routes across any ocean, representing a clear commitment to the ultra-exclusive market segment.

Its inaugural season will be in the Mediterranean in the summer of 2027

During its first season, Amangati will visit iconic and less-explored destinations across the French Riviera, Liguria and the Italian Riviera, the Amalfi Coast and Capri, Sicily and Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, the Iberian Peninsula, the Adriatic Sea and the Dalmatian Coast, the Greek Islands and the Aegean Sea, Turkey and the Bodrum Peninsula, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Monaco Grand Prix, among others.

Amangati is not simply a new superyacht; it is the embodiment of Aman's desire to translate its essence into an exclusive, itinerant format. For those seeking to travel in style, tranquility, and absolute privacy, Amangati could become the benchmark for "travel villas" on the sea.
