Aroya Cruises, Saudi Arabia's first cruise line, has announced a transition in its management team with the departure of its chairman, Dr. Jörg Rudolph, effective from November 13.
The company has expressed its gratitude to Rudolph for his dedication and for the fundamental role he has played in the launch of Aroya Cruises, helping to establish the solid foundations of the country's first domestic cruise line.
“Dr. Rudolph has played a key role in the initial success of Aroya Cruises, helping to bring the product to life,” said Lars Clasen, CEO of Cruise Saudi. “As we move into our next chapter, this transition represents a natural and positive evolution for Aroya Cruises. Our focus is on accelerating growth, improving performance, and continuing to deliver authentically Arabian experiences that reflect the spirit and hospitality of Saudi Arabia,” he added.
During the transition period, Lars Clasen will assume the role of interim chairman, while continuing in his current position as CEO of Cruise Saudi, with the support of the management teams to ensure operational continuity and the company's sustained progress.
The transition comes as Aroya Cruises prepares for its next phase of growth, aiming to boost business development, strengthen operational excellence, and solidify its strategic vision. The company has emphasized its continued commitment to redefining the cruise experience in the region through innovation, authenticity, and exceptional voyages for its guests.
Aroya Cruises has confirmed that all guest operations, scheduled itineraries, and partner agreements are continuing as planned, with no impact resulting from the leadership change.
Rudolph, appointed Aroya Cruises' first president in early 2024, brought over three decades of experience, including 20 years in the cruise industry. Prior to joining Aroya, he was managing director of Costa Cruises in Germany and held senior positions at TUI Cruises, AIDA Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean International. His leadership was instrumental in launching the first cruise line designed specifically for the Arab market, encompassing areas such as operations, finance, sales, marketing, guest experience, itinerary planning, revenue management, and customer service.
