The MSC Magnifica begins its refurbishment at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard

Refurbishment work has begun on MSC Magnifica, from MSC Cruises, marking the start of a broad program of improvements that highlights the cruise line's continued investment in enhancing the onboard experience across its entire fleet.

The MSC Magnifica begins its refurbishment at the Palumbo Malta ShipyardMSC Magnifica has been sailing since 2010 and is the first of two Musica-class ships to enter dry dock at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta for this refurbishment.

The ship will feature the MSC Yacht Club, with 63 new suites, two new specialty restaurants – Butcher's Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar – and an improved MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® Fitness Centre, with a barbershop, various entertainment rooms and an outdoor Aurea area.

The works are expected to be completed in December, and the full MSC Yacht Club experience will be available in the summer of 2026, when MSC Magnifica sets sail on its itineraries around northern Europe.

MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato stated: “These enhancements underscore our commitment to providing guests with the best possible experience and facilities across our entire fleet. With the introduction of the MSC Yacht Club on these ships, along with new restaurants, fitness centers, and wellness spaces, we are offering guests more exclusivity and choices than ever before. The MSC Yacht Club is one of our most highly regarded products, renowned for its exceptional service, elegant spaces, and exclusive amenities, and we are proud to bring this experience to MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia, in time for our inaugural Alaskan season and MSC World Cruise 2027.”

Its sister ship, MSC Poesia, will enter dry dock at the same shipyard in February 2026 to receive its upgrades, which include the MSC Yacht Club with 69 suites and an All-Stars Sports Bar, plus the same specialty restaurants and gym and spa upgrades that will be incorporated into MSC Magnifica, ready to rejoin the fleet in time for its Alaskan debut in May 2026.

These upgrades are in line with MSC Cruises' commitment to enhancing the passenger experience across its entire fleet, ensuring that both MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia continue to offer modern amenities and high-quality service to their passengers. These are the most ambitious refurbishment and upgrade projects undertaken by the cruise line in the last decade, designed and managed entirely by MSC Cruises' technical department.

The Palumbo Malta Shipyard is a strategic center for the maintenance of the MSC Cruises fleet and high-quality ship refurbishment projects in Europe.

MSC Magnifica will depart from Warnemünde, Germany, on May 16, 2026, bound for Northern Europe, visiting Denmark, the Baltic countries, Scandinavia, and Finland. Later in the year, it will offer a 3- to 8-night Mediterranean itinerary with stops in ports such as Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome), and Marseille. Following this, it will embark on MSC World Cruise 2027, where MSC Yacht Club will make its debut on this 121-night voyage visiting 45 spectacular destinations in 25 countries.

MSC Poesia will offer a seven-night itinerary from Seattle, from May to September 2026, before offering passengers round-trip cruises from Miami to the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Colombia, Costa Rica, Aruba, Curacao and Belize, in winter 2026/2027.

The MSC Magnifica and MSC Yacht Club suites on MSC Poesia are now available for booking.
