The Meyer Werft shipyard delivered its newest cruise ship, the 340-meter-long Disney Destiny, which can accommodate 4,000 passengers. The delivery to Disney Cruise Line took place as scheduled in Eemshaven, Netherlands. The first passengers will embark in November.
“We are delighted to deliver the Disney Destiny to Disney Cruise Line today. This is the latest milestone in our long-standing partnership with Disney Cruise Line. I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved,” said Bernd Eikens, CEO of MEYER WERFT. Eikens signed the delivery documents along with Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences.
Aboard the Disney Destiny, families will experience mythical adventures where iconic Disney, Pixar, and Marvel heroes and villains come to life. One of the exclusive features of the Disney Destiny is the Disney Hercules spectacular, with larger-than-life characters, high-energy comedy, and legendary music from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The fun and action extend to the upper deck, which features ten swimming pools and water play areas. Onboard, there are several themed restaurants, including “Pride Lands,” where singers and dancers present a musical version of The Lion King during dinner.
The Disney Destiny is the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet and the sixth ship Meyer Werft has built for the company. The collaboration between the two began with the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, delivered in 2010 and 2012, respectively. In 2022, the Disney Wish, the first ship in the Wish class, was delivered. Currently, a sister ship is under construction in Papenburg, with delivery scheduled for fall 2027.
