The Star Princess – the second Sphere-class ship in the Princess Cruises– was officially delivered during a handover ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. It is the 17th ship to join the cruise line's dynamic fleet that sails the world.

Among those attending the ceremony were Gus Antorcha, president of Princess Cruises; Captain Gennaro Arma of the Star Princess; Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and general manager of Fincantieri; Biagio Mazzotta, president and chairman of the board of Fincantieri, along with key company executives and local authorities.
The ceremony symbolizes the official transfer of the ship from Fincantieri to Princess, marking the completion of its construction and the start of final preparations for its maiden voyage. “Today is a proud moment for Princess as we welcome the new Star Princess to our incredible fleet,” said Gus Antorcha, President of Princess Cruises. “This extraordinary ship is a testament to the innovation and shipbuilding artistry of our long-time partners at Fincantieri, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the team that made it possible to bring our newest vessel to life.”
With its 1,600 crew members already on board preparing everything to welcome the first guests, the Star Princess will depart from the shipyard bound for Barcelona before its inaugural voyage, an 11-day cruise through the Western Mediterranean departing on October 4.
The Star Princess, at 177,800 tons and with a capacity for 4,300 guests, is the sister ship to the award-winning Sun Princess. It will offer 30 distinct restaurants and bars, as well as a carefully curated selection of entertainment and activities. Exclusive new features on the Star Princess and Sun Princess include The Sanctuary Collection, a private retreat at sea with access to an exclusive restaurant; the Sanctuary Club, a tranquil adults-only pool deck; and carefully selected amenities that set a new standard of luxury at sea.
With over 1,500 balcony staterooms, guests can enjoy panoramic views from the comfort of their rooms. Highlights include The Dome, an innovative relaxation and entertainment space; The Arena, Princess's most technologically advanced theater; The Piazza, the ship's architectural heart with its dramatic curves, floor-to-ceiling windows, and ocean views; and Spellbound by Magic Castle, a captivating speakeasy experience born from a collaboration with Hollywood's iconic Magic Castle™.
On October 4, 2025, the Star Princess will make its Mediterranean debut, with round-trip itineraries from Barcelona, before crossing the Atlantic to begin its Caribbean season from Ft. Lauderdale on November 7, 2025. Following its Caribbean season, it will sail through the Panama Canal westward to begin its inaugural Alaskan season.
