Viking takes delivery of the Viking Gyda, which will sail exclusively on the Douro River in Portugal. The handover ceremony for the Viking Gyda took place at the West Sea shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Built specifically for the Douro River and the popular 10-day Portugal's River of Gold, the Viking Gyda features Viking's signature elegant Scandinavian design and accommodates 106 guests in 53 cabins. It joins its sister ships, the Viking Helgrim, Viking Hemming, Viking Osfrid, and Viking Torgil, bringing the number of Viking ships in the Douro fleet to five.
Viking remains focused on well-defined, long-term growth plans as part of its strategy to maintain a leading position in experiential tourism. Based on its confirmed order book, the company expects to receive an additional 26 river cruise ships by 2028 and 10 additional ocean-going ships by 2031. With these orders, Viking will have 112 river cruise ships in 2028 and 23 ocean-going and expedition ships in 2031.
