Javier Rodriguez Sanchez leaves Global Ports Holding and joins MSC Cruises as VP of Port Development based at the company's headquarters in Geneva.
Until now he held the position of “GM Barcelona Cruise Port and GPH West Med & Asia Region” based in Barcelona, having joined GPH in 2017 to manage the Global Ports cruise terminal in Barcelona, Barcelona Cruise Port.
Currently, as Regional Director of Global Ports Holding, Javier was responsible for overseeing the management of all ports within the GPH network in the Western Mediterranean and Asia region, maintaining close relationships with the various port authorities and local stakeholders. He also spearheaded all new port developments in the region, while continuing to serve as Managing Director of Barcelona Cruise Port, where he was responsible for the company's management and performance at the port.
Javier Rodríguez has over fifteen years of management experience in the cruise and maritime transport industry, and has developed his professional career in various multinational corporations such as British Petroleum (BP), Maersk Line and for 7 years in Pullmantur Cruises.
He joins as VP of Port Development, based in Geneva and reporting to Gianluca Suprani, SVP of Global Port Development and shore activities, where he will be responsible for developing and overseeing all port and destination developments worldwide for the group.
GlobalPorts has announced that Francesc Grau i Comellas will assume the position of Regional Director for the Western Mediterranean and General Manager of the Port of Barcelona Cruises from today, July 25.
Francesc has been a key member of the Creuers del Port de Barcelona SA team since 1999, most recently assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer. With over two decades of experience overseeing daily port operations, leading infrastructure improvements, and supporting international growth initiatives, he brings deep operational knowledge and proven leadership to his expanded role. Francesc has contributed to the success of Barcelona's five cruise terminals and supported GPH's development in strategic markets, beginning with Málaga, Lisbon, and Singapore, and continuing with the company's upcoming projects.
