Carnival Cruise Line presents the first installment of its 2027/2028 cruise schedule, which will include the relocation of several ships, offering travelers more opportunities to enjoy new and exciting vacations.
Carnival remains the only cruise line with two year-round homeported ships in New Orleans and will move the larger Carnival Dream back to the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) in May 2027, where it will join the Carnival Liberty. The Carnival Dream can accommodate more than 4,600 passengers and offers a wide variety of signature Carnival experiences.
“More capacity with a larger ship means more tourism activity for Port NOLA and the entire region, where we have enjoyed a successful partnership for more than three decades,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “As we roll out our plans through spring 2028, we have great news to share with our port communities. The fun is on the move, which means more choices and more variety for guests planning their future cruise vacations.”
Carnival Dream
Before moving to its new homeport, the Carnival Dream will offer two final cruises from Galveston in May 2027, including a one-week Western Caribbean itinerary with stops in Belize, Cozumel and Tropical Island, followed by another one-week Bahamas cruise visiting Celebration Key, Key West and Nassau.
On May 16, 2027, the Carnival Dream will return to New Orleans for the first time since 2019. From there, it will offer a series of four- and five-night voyages from Port NOLA to Mexico.
The Carnival Dream provides a vibrant and fun experience for guests of all ages. It offers a wide variety of spacious staterooms, dining options such as Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, and Bonsai Sushi, as well as entertainment including the Punchliner Comedy Club, Broadway-style shows, and movies under the stars.
Carnival Liberty
The Carnival Liberty will continue sailing from New Orleans, expanding its seven-night Western Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries through April 2028.
Several of these sailings visit Carnival's newest signature destination, Celebration Key, as well as Key West and Nassau. Itineraries will also include stops in destinations such as Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman, and Tropical Island.
Special eight-night cruises during Thanksgiving and Christmas will include stops at Celebration Key and RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay.
For those seeking longer adventures, the Carnival Liberty will offer a special 14-day Panama Canal cruise, part of its Carnival Journeys program, departing on November 28, 2027. This itinerary includes stops in Aruba, Cartagena, Colón (Panama Canal), Curaçao, Cozumel, Limón, and Montego Bay, giving guests a unique opportunity to see the Panama Canal and experience vibrant destinations in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Carnival Liberty returned to service in New Orleans this week after an extensive refurbishment in Europe, which added several new features to the ship, including a WaterWorks water park with new slides and the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a special space for active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families. The ship also features other passenger favorites such as award-winning live shows, youth programs, the adults-only Serenity Retreat, the Cloud 9 Spa, and popular bars like the RedFrog Rum Bar and the Alchemy Bar.
Carnival will reveal more plans for its future itineraries—from May 2027 to April 2028—in the coming weeks. New homeports for several ships will also be announced, adding variety and more options from several key cities.
