The Carnival Liberty returns to service after undergoing shipyard work

Carnival Cruise Line 's cruises from New Orleans now offer even more fun with the return of the Carnival Liberty, following a complete shipyard renovation that incorporated new features into the ship.

The Carnival Liberty returns to service after undergoing shipyard workThe Carnival Liberty joins its sister ship, the Carnival Valor, which returned to the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) last month with numerous upgrades following a similar refurbishment. The first guests to enjoy these new amenities embarked on Sunday and are currently enjoying a week-long Caribbean cruise.

Among the new features is the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a special space dedicated to honoring members of the military and their families. The ship also now boasts a WaterWorks water park with new slides, as well as a new mini-golf course.

The ship's spa, now under the Cloud9 Spa brand, has been completely renovated and includes updated décor, improved beauty stations, a modernized gym, a new Elamis boutique, as well as new steam rooms and saunas.

Guests will also enjoy upgrades to the casino, which features a new layout and more slot machines and gaming tables. For younger cruisers, new amenities have been added, including gaming stations at Camp Ocean, as well as a revamped Arcade area and a redesigned Club O2.

Other additions include a Dream Studio for personalized photo sessions and a new space called Carnival Adventures, a one-stop shop where guests can learn about and book shore excursions. The onboard shops, the FUN Shops, have been renovated with new displays, and there is now also a new High Spirits liquor store on board.

The shipyard visit also prioritized accessibility, with extensive improvements throughout the ship: from more accessible corridors to enhanced amenities in various public areas and cabins.

The Carnival Liberty offers week-long cruises to popular destinations in the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean.

On July 23, the ship will make its first visit to Celebration Key, Carnival's new exclusive destination.
