In a deeply symbolic ceremony, the two newest ships in the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions in the Galapagos Islands were officially christened: National Geographic Delfina and National Geographic Gemini.
During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the crew members and their children, highlighting Lindblad Expeditions' long-standing commitment to the local community and their dedication to preserving and protecting the region for future generations.
The dual christening ceremony took place in the heart of the Galapagos archipelago—in Academy Bay—where crew members and their children, Lindblad Expeditions leaders, guests, local dignitaries, and members of the multi-generational Galapagos community gathered to witness the ceremonial act.

In 1967, Lindblad Expeditions led the first international civilian, non-scientific expedition to the Galápagos Islands and has maintained a close partnership with the community and the National Park ever since. For nearly 60 years, this close relationship with the local community and authorities has been a fundamental part of the company's history, which has supported more than 100 environmental and community-focused projects in the region.
The National Geographic Delfina and National Geographic Gemini ships joined Lindblad Expeditions' Galapagos fleet earlier this year, offering high-level, immersive expedition experiences in one of the world's most extraordinary natural environments.
The National Geographic Delfina is an elegant 30-meter (98-foot) luxury catamaran designed for immersive explorations in small groups, ideal for families and affinity groups. Accommodating only 16 guests in eight well-appointed cabins—half with private balconies—the vessel offers an intimate and comfortable onboard experience.
Guests can enjoy panoramic views from the open-air observation deck, dine al fresco, and take advantage of state-of-the-art exploration tools such as Zodiacs, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment, while touring the archipelago alongside experienced expedition team members.
The National Geographic Gemini is a mission-built expedition ship, accommodating up to 48 passengers and designed for discovery. It features 28 ocean-view cabins—including suites with private balconies—and offers spacious accommodations designed for comfort. Guests can relax in the ocean-view fitness center and spa, enjoy panoramic views from the deck jacuzzi, and dine al fresco at the outdoor café.
Equipped with a fleet of Zodiacs, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling equipment, among other exploration tools, and with a crew made up of Ecuadorians and Galapagos natives, the National Geographic Gemini offers an authentic and enriching experience in the Galapagos, the result of almost 60 years of history.
