Viking is launching its first river cruises in India aboard the Viking Brahmaputra, a new 80-passenger vessel designed specifically for the Brahmaputra River. Currently under construction and slated to debut in late 2027, the Viking Brahmaputra will set a new standard for modern river cruising in India. The ship will sail between Guwahati and Nimati Ghat in the northeastern state of Assam as part of Viking’s new 15-day Wonders of India itinerary. In addition to an eight-day river cruise, the itinerary includes a fully guided land program with overnight stays in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.

The new Viking Brahmaputra will accommodate 80 guests in 40 outside staterooms. Featuring Viking's signature Scandinavian design, all staterooms and suites will have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and private verandas. Guests of the three-deck Viking Brahmaputra will also enjoy a range of amenities, including a spa and fitness center and an open-air sky bar on the top deck.
The 15-day Wonders of India itinerary operates round-trip from Delhi, with hotel stays in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur framing the eight-day Brahmaputra River cruise, sailing either east or west. With 13 included excursions, guests will immerse themselves in India's cultural treasures and have the opportunity to visit up to 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Travelers will explore the rich history of India's Golden Triangle, visiting Agra's legendary Taj Mahal, wandering the narrow streets of Old Delhi, and admiring Jaipur's ornate Palace of Winds. While cruising the Brahmaputra River, guests will visit temples in Guwahati, encounter traditional riverside villages, search for rhinos, unicorns, and buffalo in Kaziranga National Park, and discover the cultures of Majuli, one of the world's largest river islands.
For those seeking an even deeper immersion, Viking will also offer a variety of new pre- and post-trip land extensions to the Wonders of India itinerary, including: Delhi (two nights), Dubai (three nights; fully guided), Kathmandu (four nights; fully guided) and Cochin and Mumbai (five nights; fully guided).
