Atlas Ocean Voyages is launching a new polar expedition for 2026: “Discovering the Canadian Arctic,” a 17-night voyage aboard the World Voyager, departing on September 21 from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, and bound for St. John’s, Newfoundland. This journey offers explorers a rare opportunity to traverse the remote regions of the Canadian Arctic and Labrador, highlighting their wilderness, cultural diversity, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
This Arctic itinerary offers adventurous expedition experiences, including Zodiac safaris in Disco Bay and the Button Islands—ideal habitats for polar bears, walruses, and whales—along with scenic ice sailing and black bear sightings in Nachvak Fjord. Travelers will immerse themselves in the rich cultures of Sisimiut and Qikiqtarjuaq, interacting with local artisans from diverse communities, including Inuit peoples from Greenland and Canada, as well as groups of Basque and French heritage. Highlights include ancient Inuit traditions, the historic Basque whaling station in Red Bay, and the unique charm of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Wildlife sightings are common during remote landings and Zodiac cruises, especially polar bears, migratory seabirds, and seals. In addition, travelers will explore the ruins of the Moravian mission of Hebron and the geological wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Gros Morne National Park, with several days of “Captain’s Choice,” allowing spontaneous landings in the Arctic wilderness.

Jonathan Zaccaria – A French-born spectrometry engineer turned polar guide, Jonathan brings over a decade of experience leading expeditions in Antarctica and the Arctic, and will be aboard the World Voyager this summer. His polar career began at the renowned Dumont d'Urville Station and includes multiple winters in Antarctica.

Ekaterina Uryupova – Originally from Siberia, Katia holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences. She has conducted research and fieldwork at both poles and leads the team aboard the World Traveller. Her specialties include marine biology, climate science, and environmental advocacy through organizations such as APECS and PYRN.
