Holland America Line has announced a new collaboration with Sony Electronics for the 2025 Alaska season. Guests will be able to enjoy an immersive way to experience Alaskan landscapes through onboard photography experiences and a photo contest.
As part of this collaboration, Sony and Holland America Line will launch the “Alaska Through Your Lens” photo contest this season. Passengers are invited to capture Alaska’s landscapes, diverse wildlife, and natural wonders and enter for a chance to win prizes in the Sony Alpha Universe, Sony’s official platform to support and inspire photographers using Sony Alpha cameras.
The grand prize winners will receive an Alaskan cruise for two with Holland America Line, plus a Sony Alpha 7R V camera, a 70-200mm F2.8 G Master II lens and a 24-70mm F2.8 G Master II lens to enhance every shot.
As part of the “We Love Alaska” onboard experience, Sony hosted an interactive photography class during the seven-day “Alaska Inside Passage” on June 25, 2025. Led by professional photographer Colby Brown, a Sony “Artisan,” the class aboard the Zaandam offered passengers specialized knowledge and hands-on experience with Sony’s latest equipment.
Participants honed their photography skills while capturing Alaska's glaciers, landscapes, wildlife, and panoramic vistas. Thanks to Sony's Creators' Cloud feature, guests were able to instantly save and share their photos with family and friends via a mobile app. For added convenience, a condensed version of the class will also be available on in-cabin televisions across the fleet.

“Great Alaska Explorer” (14 days): an in-depth adventure with eight ports in Alaska, round-trip departures from Vancouver.

“Northbound Glacier Discovery” and “Southbound Glacier Discovery” (7 days): between Whittier (Anchorage) and Vancouver, on board the ships Nieuw Amsterdam and Noordam.

Each Alaskan cruise includes a “Glacier Day,” with visits to one or more iconic glacier destinations and shore excursions to see even more. In addition, a wildlife expert is onboard to help passengers identify animals such as whales, eagles, bears, moose, otters, seals, sea lions, and more. A wildlife viewing guide and a map highlighting the best locations to observe each species are provided throughout the cruise.
