Emerald Cruises unveils its major expansion with multiple ships planned for 2027, building on the momentum of Emerald Kaia and Emerald Astra, which will be launched in April 2026. The projected growth for 2027 will include two new superyachts and a new European river cruise ship, the latter being the brand's first vessel to sail the Seine River.
“This is a transformative moment for Emerald Cruises,” said Glen Moroney, president and founder of Scenic Group. “From our first yachts to today’s growing fleet, our vision remains clear: to offer curated experiences in some of the world’s most captivating destinations, both by sea and river.”.
New Superyachts, New Horizons
Following the debut of Emerald Kaia in 2026, Emerald Cruises will introduce two next-generation superyachts in 2027, further solidifying its leadership in the boutique yacht segment. The new ships, Emerald Raiya and Emerald Xara, will reflect the same elegant design language and elevated guest experience as their sister ship, with enhancements based on direct customer feedback. Each will offer spacious suites, an expansive Sky Deck with private cabanas and panoramic views, and a marine platform with direct access to the sea.
Distinctive details include an outdoor fitness area, the Elements, multiple dining options with regional and inspired cuisine, and a selection of water toys – such as paddleboards and SeaBobs – that deliver the signature blend of adventure, relaxation and understated charm of a superyacht.
Each yacht will accommodate 128 guests and offer exclusive suite accommodations. Like Emerald Kaia, both will be designed for uninterrupted outdoor living, with amenities focused on wellness and immersive coastal exploration.
Deployment highlights:
-
Emerald Raiya will debut in the Seychelles in winter 2026/27, then sail the eastern Mediterranean in summer 2027 and return to the Seychelles in winter 2027/28.
-
Emerald Xara will launch in the Mediterranean in summer 2027 and then head to the Caribbean in winter 2027/28.
-
Emerald Kaia will be relocated to the Caribbean from winter 2026/27, joining Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara. Guests with reservations for Kaia in the Seychelles during that season will be contacted to transfer their reservation to Emerald Raiya.
-
In winter 2027/28, Emerald Kaia and Emerald Xara will join Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Caribbean, expanding the brand's warm-weather yacht offering.
“These new routes allow us to extend the guest experience into more warm seasons, offering even more ways to enjoy our unparalleled superyacht product, from the Seychelles to the Caribbean,” commented Dominika Lange, General Manager of Sales and Marketing EMEA.
River cruises
As Emerald Cruises charts a new course toward 2027, its river cruise portfolio will also reach new frontiers. Building on a decade of innovation on Europe's most iconic waterways, the brand will unveil a purpose-built riverboat, marking its highly anticipated debut on the Seine.
The announcement follows the debut of Emerald Astra in 2026, the tenth Emerald Star-Ship in the brand's European river fleet, further elevating the contemporary experience guests know and love. With its elegant design and immersive itineraries, Emerald Astra sets the stage for what's to come: a new generation of river ships designed with greater access to destinations, enhanced onboard comfort, and deeper cultural connections.
Emerald on the Seine: A Premiere for the Brand
In 2027, Emerald Cruises will make its debut on the legendary Seine River with Emerald Lumi, a ship custom-designed for this elegant and iconic waterway. Launching select experiences from Paris through Normandy and beyond, Emerald Lumi will offer a modern take on French river cruising, combining luxury, cultural immersion, and boutique charm.
Emerald Lumi will feature contemporary interiors, spacious suites, and a range of onboard amenities in line with the signature Emerald Cruises experience. Designed specifically for the region, the ship will navigate the unique dimensions of the Seine, opening access to coveted ports such as Honfleur, Rouen, and other picturesque towns known for their art, history, and gastronomy.
“The Seine is a natural evolution for Emerald Cruises,” said Glen Moroney. “It’s a river steeped in romance, history, and culinary heritage – everything our guests love. We’re thrilled to bring our distinctive Emerald Cruises experience to France with this beautiful ship.”.
Deployment 2027/28: Driving Group Growth
As part of its growth strategy, Emerald Cruises is also previewing its 2027/28 rollout, designed to support the growing demand in the group and private charter market, particularly on its fleet of luxury superyachts. Select voyages from the expanded Emerald Yacht Cruises (EYC) will be available for booking in June 2025, with early access and planning support for key partners and travel advisors, facilitating customized offers to desired destinations.
“There is a growing demand for private charters, celebrations, and select group trips, especially on our yachts,” said Lange. “By announcing deployment details in advance, we help our partners secure the best product for their most discerning clients.”.
Emerald Cruises' expansion goes beyond ships and itineraries, and represents a vibrant and confident brand that is shaping the future of boutique yacht and river cruising.
