Viking has taken delivery of the Viking Nerthus, the company's newest Viking Longship®. The delivery took place this morning at Meyer's Neptun Werft shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde, Germany. With a capacity for 168 passengers, the Viking Nerthus joins the growing fleet of sister ships on the Seine River and will sail on Viking's popular 8-day itineraries: Paris and the Heart of Normandy and the new Christmas in Paris and Normandy.

The Viking Nerthus
With accommodation for 168 guests in 84 cabins, the new Viking Nerthus features the distinctive Scandinavian design for which Viking is known. As an identical sister ship to the Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid, Viking Skaga, and Viking Fjorgyn, the Viking Nerthus boasts features familiar to Viking guests, such as a distinctive square bow, an Aquavit deck, and a wide variety of cabin options.
The ships are equipped with a hybrid propulsion system that includes batteries and exhaust gas treatment. They also have a connection to the electrical grid in port to reduce fuel consumption and feature onboard solar panels that contribute to their energy efficiency.
With two itineraries and sailing dates from March to December, the Viking Nerthus will make round trips from Paris, stopping at several cities along the Seine, including Giverny, Rouen, and the beaches of Normandy. In Paris, Viking ships dock at an exclusive location in the Port du Grenelle, a short distance from the Eiffel Tower.

The company expects to receive an additional 25 river ships by 2028 and nine additional ocean-going ships by 2030. With these orders, Viking will have 109 river ships in 2028 and 21 ocean-going and expedition ships in 2030.
