MSC Cruiseshas confirmed that Drew Barrymore will be the godmother of its new flagship, MSC World America. The inauguration will take place on Wednesday, April 9, at MSC's new cruise terminal in Miami, which will be the largest in the world.
As part of the inaugural ceremony, Barrymore will perform the traditional ribbon-cutting and uncorking of a bottle of champagne at the ship's bow. She will be accompanied by actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she stars in MSC Cruises' "Let's Holiday" campaign, recently launched during the sporting event of the year in the United States.

The inauguration ceremony of MSC World America will be attended by international press, authorities, and travel agents. They will enjoy a gala dinner and entertainment, along with the opportunity to experience everything the ship has to offer. Following the ceremony, MSC World America will set sail on a 3-night inaugural voyage to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises' stunning private island in the Bahamas, which Barrymore and Bloom are visiting as part of the "Let's Holiday" campaign.
During its stay at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the MSC Foundation will hold an opening ceremony for its new Marine Conservation Center. The facility will serve as a hub for scientists and students participating in the MSC Foundation's Super Coral program, as well as a place where passengers can learn more about the program's mission to restore coral reefs impacted by climate change.
MSC World America will usher in a new era of cruising, seamlessly blending European style with American comfort. Its features include:
- Seven districts designed to offer distinct spaces that allow each type of traveler to enjoy their own unique holiday experience.
- 19 restaurants, including the only Eataly restaurant at sea.
- 18 bars and lounges, including brand new venues such as All Stars Sports Bar and The Loft comedy club.
- The Harbour, a new outdoor space for families that includes the Cliffhanger water swing, a ropes course, a water park, a playground, relaxation areas and takeaway food.
- The open-air World Promenade gallery features shops, restaurants, and one of the longest dry slides at sea, plus fantastic sea views.
- The 3-level World Galleria is bustling with activity and packed with bars, shops, and restaurants.
- MSC Yacht Club: MSC Cruises' exclusive "yacht within a ship" concept, which aboard MSC World America becomes the largest in the Caribbean. It offers luxury and exclusivity, along with features such as 24-hour butler service, private access via cruise card, and a wide range of exclusive services.
