As first announced in April 2024, the new units will represent the pinnacle of the Norwegian Cruise Line and will be the largest ships ever built for the brand.
Fincantieri confirms that the Letter of Intent signed with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) and announced on April 8, 2024 has become a firm order for the construction of four new cruise ships for the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) brand.
With a gross tonnage of approximately 226,000 tons, the new ships will be the largest ever built for NCL. The vessels will be constructed at Fincantieri's shipyard in Monfalcone, with the first ship scheduled for delivery in 2030, followed by the others in 2032, 2034, and 2036. Featuring more than 5,100 cabins, the ships will be able to accommodate over 8,300 people, including crew. Designed to the highest standards of comfort and technology, these ships will also incorporate sustainability features.
Fincantieri has already built two yachts for the NCL brand, the “Norwegian Prima” and the “Norwegian Viva,” while the “Norwegian Aqua,” the first unit in the Prima Plus class, will be delivered in the coming months. In addition, three more units are in various stages of design and construction.
