Tauck presents its new river cruise for 2025 that will celebrate traditional Christmas markets and other festivities along the Seine River in France.
The Seine: Christmas Magic begins in Paris, where guests will board Tauck’s riverboat ms Sapphire for three nights and two full days in the city. Highlights in Paris will include visits to the city’s Christmas markets, such as the one in the Tuileries Garden, where guests can purchase local crafts and sample mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, sausages, cheeses, chocolates, and more. During their time in Paris, guests can also choose between discovering medieval works at the Cluny Museum or exploring the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, a royal chapel conceived by Louis IX to house his collection of sacred relics, famous today for its stunning 13th-century stained-glass windows.
Other cities included in the eight-day itinerary are Rouen, Les Andelys, and Vernon, with highlights such as a private tour and Christmas cocktail party at the opulent Château de Bizy, built in 1740 and still owned by a descendant of Napoleon. Guests will also enjoy a private lunch and afternoon tea at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, specially decorated for the season, with time to explore this 100-room moated palace and its formal gardens.
In Normandy, guests will have more opportunities to experience the Christmas spirit by purchasing traditional treats at the Christmas markets. The following day, they can choose between guided tours of the historic D-Day beaches in Normandy or the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen.
The cruise's numerous shore excursions (all included in the price) will be complemented by festive decorations and Christmas activities aboard the ms Sapphire, such as musical entertainment, interactive workshops with a local artist, and more. Tauck will operate five sailings of The Seine: Christmas Magic next year.
The new Seine itinerary is Tauck's fifth Christmas market-themed cruise and its first in France. The company already operates two Christmas cruises on the Danube (including a Tauck Bridges trip designed especially for families), as well as Christmas cruises on the Rhine and on the waterways of Belgium and the Netherlands. This new Seine cruise is also the latest step in Tauck's ongoing expansion of its presence in river tourism in France. At the end of October, the company announced it would build two new riverboats for itineraries on the Rhône and the Seine.
