The ship's special technology for protecting the environment sets new standards for river cruises in the luxury market.

During an intimate christening ceremony in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the newest 5-star ship, the AMADEUS Nova, was welcomed into the AMADEUS luxury fleet.

In addition to its elegant interior design, it represents a new generation of passenger ships: A hybrid, diesel-electric propulsion system significantly reduces CO2 emissions.

A control and positioning system enhances safety while simultaneously increasing fuel efficiency. Filters and catalytic converters virtually eliminate air pollutants.

Solar panels provide electricity, and a heat recovery system allows for the reuse of heat on board. Special glass fronts also minimize the effects of heat. All AMADEUS ships have been awarded the Green Award.

After the ceremony, all the guests toured the spacious AMADEUS Nova. The 135-meter-long vessel was built at the Dutch shipyard TeamCo Shipyard and sails under the German flag.

For 158 guests spread over four decks, the AMADEUS Nova offers all the comfort of a 5-star hotel: 12 spacious suites with balconies, 67 outside cabins with retractable panoramic windows, wind-protected lounges, a gallery with a cafe, spa and fitness areas, and a pool on the sundeck.
