American Cruise Lines has confirmed that it has seven new ships on order, scheduled for delivery before the end of 2026, the company said.
The new vessels include six Project Blue series ships and a brand new American Riverboat.
“The domestic cruise industry is in the best shape of its history. Demand for modern river cruises, new smaller ships, and unique U.S. explorations continues to grow,” said Charles B. Robertson, President and CEO of American Cruise Lines. “That demand is driven by destinations steeped in history and ships that offer the best onboard experience in the world.”
Three of the seven new ships ordered do not yet have names, and more details about each of them will be announced throughout the summer.
The new American Riverboat will be similar to its award-winning sister ships and will feature several new design elements that will continue to raise the bar for the global river cruise community.
The company plans to operate 21 smaller ships in 2025 and 24 ships in 2026, all sailing exclusively on 100% American itineraries along U.S. rivers and coastlines. The seven new vessels are being built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland.
