Windstar Cruises announced its plans to send its newest ship, the Star Seeker, to Alaska and Japan when it joins the fleet in 2026.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring Alaska and Japan back for our guests,” said Windstar President Christopher Prelog. “We know they are popular destinations, and we have a lot of people asking us to bring them back. We can’t keep this a secret any longer.”

The Star Seeker will explore Alaska from May to August on seven-, ten-, and eleven-day itineraries between Juneau or Seward, Alaska, and Vancouver, British Columbia. In addition, there will be land excursions to Denali before and after the cruise.

After departing Alaska at the end of August, the Star Seeker will head to Japan to begin its 10-day Grand Japan cruises between Tokyo and Osaka. The ship will remain in Japan until November 2026.

Details of the Star Seeker's new deployment, including itineraries to Alaska and Japan, will be available online and bookable in early August 2024.

“These immersive, small-group expeditions are a key part of our Alaska program and bring our guests closer to the beauty of Alaska,” Prelog added. “Being on the water and seeing the topography from that vantage point puts the grandeur of Alaska into perspective. It’s also peaceful and meditative to be in these wild places. You never know what wildlife you might see.”

Earlier this year, Windstar announced the addition of two new ships to its fleet: the Star Seeker and the Star Explorer. Each will feature 112 suites and a total capacity of 224 guests. The Star Seeker will be delivered to Windstar in December 2025 and the Star Explorer in December 2026.
