Norwegian Cruise Line uses the Port of Barcelona as its homeport for Western Mediterranean cruises. For over ten years, the Norwegian Epic arrived in Barcelona every spring to begin its summer season, offering 7-day Mediterranean cruises during the summer months. However, in 2024, the company decided to send the Norwegian Epic to Rome (Civitavecchia), and this summer it will be the Norwegian Escape, the company's only Breakaway-Plus class ship based in Europe, that will offer eight- to ten-day itineraries from its new homeport of Barcelona.
The itineraries offered for this summer, among others, are the following:
- 10-day cruise from Barcelona, visiting Cannes in France; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples (Pompeii) in Italy; Cagliari in Sardinia; Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza and disembarkation in Barcelona.
- Italy, France and Spain on an 11-day cruise from Barcelona with stops in Cannes in France; Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples and Messina (Sicily) in Italy; Valletta in Malta; Cagliari in Sardinia, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona.
- Cruise to the Greek Islands departing on August 11 from Barcelona to Cannes in France; Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples and Messina in Italy; Valletta in Malta; Corfu in Greece; Split in Croatia and Trieste (Italy).
The Norwegian Escape, built in 2015 and refurbished in 2022, has a capacity for 4,218 passengers. It offers a total of 19 different dining options, including a seafood restaurant, an Irish pub, and a specialty burger joint, as well as 19 bars and lounges serving craft beers and refreshing mojitos. There are also entertainment options such as piano duels, musical performances, and sing-alongs with The Choir of Man, as well as spaces for relaxation, such as the pool and jacuzzi area or the spa. In addition, free-fall waterslides, a ropes course, a casino, and a fitness center are just some of the many options this cruise ship offers its passengers.
The ship offers a variety of accommodations, from interior cabins to balcony suites for up to four people. And let's not forget "The Haven by Norwegian," featuring the most luxurious and best-equipped cabins, with 24-hour concierge and butler service throughout the voyage, and other exclusive amenities for an unforgettable journey.
Furthermore, with Free at Sea, passengers can tailor their vacation to their preferences, enjoying specialty restaurants, unlimited drinks, shore excursion credits, and free Wi-Fi.
