Hurtigruten, the expedition cruise line, announces its most ambitious voyage yet: the “Pole to Pole” expedition.
This 96-day journey aboard the MS Roald Amundsen will take passengers from the far north of the Arctic to Antarctica, visiting countries such as Greenland, Canada, Panama, Argentina, among others, and discovering unique landscapes and cultures.
The journey will begin in Vancouver, Canada, known for its mountainous landscapes and the waters of English Bay. Here, travelers will board the MS Roald Amundsen. From Vancouver, the ship will begin its southward voyage, sailing along the west coast of North America to the Northwest Passage.
During these first few days, passengers will be able to enjoy a unique natural spectacle, including Arctic wildlife such as polar bears, walruses, and belugas. Once across the Arctic, the cruise will continue its route south, making stops at various points in Central and South America.
Between days 54 and 63, one of the highlights of the trip will take place: the crossing of the Panama Canal, where you can admire one of the most impressive engineering feats in the world, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Upon arriving in South America, stopovers in cities like Lima, Buenos Aires, and Manta will allow travelers to immerse themselves in the continent's cultural and gastronomic diversity, exploring experiences different from those experienced in the previous days.
The trip itinerary includes excursions to iconic locations such as the Galapagos Islands, Sable Island, San Mateo Island, and Princeton. At these destinations, travelers will not only be able to explore the cities but also immerse themselves in the local traditions, history, and people.
The journey will culminate in Antarctica, one of the last unexplored territories on the planet. In this final leg of the voyage, the explorers will have the opportunity to sail through its icy waters and observe impressive icebergs and glaciers up close.
They will also be able to see the wildlife of this remote location, such as penguins, seals, and whales. The itinerary includes organized excursions with biology and geology experts, who will guide travelers on Zodiac expeditions and ice treks.
