On May 30 and 31, the Port of Bordeaux team and its partners hosted an inaugural call at the Port of Bordeaux's new cruise pier in Pauillac.
The port of Bordeaux has invested in this new facility, previously dedicated to Airbus traffic, to adapt it to the cruise market.
New fenders have been added, and two new platform walkways will soon be delivered to comfortably accommodate cruise ship passengers. This new pier can accommodate vessels up to 320 meters in length.
The new dock is located 1.8 km from the center of Pauillac, on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, in the heart of the iconic Medoc wine region, near Bordeaux.
The Sea Cloud Spirit was the first ship to dock at the new infrastructure for an overnight stop.
The port of Bordeaux now welcomes cruise ships in 3 different locations:
- Bordeaux city centre, in the heart of the UNESCO pedestrian zone, for ships up to 250 metres in length (2 berths).
- Pauillac, for ships up to 320 meters in length (1 berth).
- Le Verdon, located at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, for cruise ships of any size (2 berths).
The port of Bordeaux expects a record activity of 66 calls this year and between 65,000 and 70,000 cruise passengers.
