After departing Norfolk on a transatlantic crossing in mid-April, the Carnival Legend recently arrived in Europe for its summer program.
The 12-night repositioning trip included visits to destinations in Portugal and Spain before ending in Barcelona on April 27.
Before starting its summer program, the ship, with a capacity for 2,100 passengers, sailed to the Chantier Naval de Marseille in France, where it is undergoing a major refurbishment.
In addition to technical maintenance and refurbishment work, the Legend is expected to receive improvements in its common areas and cabins.
Although details of the project have not yet been confirmed, it is possible that the ship will receive new spaces, such as the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, which is being extended to more ships in the Carnival fleet.
Once the works are completed, the Carnival Legend will begin a five-month program in Europe that includes itineraries through Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
The first trip of the season is an eight-night cruise through Italy, France, Spain and Malta, departing from Barcelona and returning.
With a planned departure on May 30, the itinerary includes visits to Toulon, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina and Valletta.
In June, the Carnival Legend will move to northern Europe to conduct a series of cruises departing from Dover, England.
Before returning to the Mediterranean at the end of August, the ship offers nine- to twelve-night itineraries around the British Isles, Iceland, Scandinavia and the North Sea, among others.
The Legend will return to North America in early November and will conduct a series of ten-night cruises to the Greek Islands, Italy, and Türkiye between September and October.
The ship will then make a transatlantic voyage to Florida before beginning its 2024-25 winter program in Tampa.
