Explora Journeys, in collaboration with the leading digital design platform Archiproducts, has presented the interior design installation “AQUA”, organized by Studiopepe, at Milan Design Week 2024.
Visitors to the Archiproducts showroom at Via Tortona 31, Milan, will find themselves on the imaginary deck of EXPLORA II, furnished with custom-made sofas from the new Davos collection by the prestigious Italian manufacturer Unopiù.
This custom-made creation by interior designer Matteo Nunziati will bring a distinctive style to the second of Explora Journeys' six luxury ships, EXPLORA II, which will set sail on its maiden voyage on August 11, 2024 from Barcelona, Spain.
The Davos collection: a triumph of modular design
The Davos collection, a celebration of flexible modular design, takes its name from the small Swiss town whose architecture inspired the furniture's striking right-angled shape. Sofas, chaise longues, armchairs, and coffee tables are all designed around an aluminum frame.
“At the heart of my concept for the Davos collection were two considerations,” stated designer Matteo Nunziati. “First, functionality: the design had to offer practical solutions, such as versatility and flexibility, as well as meet the everyday needs that make life enjoyable.”
“And then there’s the more existential dimension of what makes people happy. The answer, of course, is pleasure. So Davos furniture had to be beautiful, as well as comfortable and durable.”.
Reflecting the trend of spaces that flow seamlessly from the inside out, the plush, ultra-comfortable upholstery is as impressive inside as it will be outdoors in the Helios pool aboard EXPLORA II.
The immersive experience continues inside AQUA. Visitors are invited to explore the dynamic nature of water on a sensory journey through a space characterized by curves and soft materials.
To represent the optics created by the way light filters chromatically in the ocean, AQUA's ambient lighting changes from aqua green and pale blue to ultramarine and electric blue, passing through deep blue and violet.
The effect is designed to reflect the calming and restorative tranquility of Explora Journeys' ship interiors. Urban noise fades into the background as passengers find themselves in harmony with the ocean.
On board EXPLORA II
“EXPLORA II will maintain the same exemplary standards of elegance and sophistication demonstrated by our first ship, EXPLORA I,” said Antonio di Nenno, Director of Architecture and Design at Explora Journeys.

Starting in the summer of 2024, passengers will be able to experience the relaxing “Ocean State of Mind” firsthand when EXPLORA II embarks on its maiden voyage.
The inaugural 8-night voyage begins on August 11, 2024, in the Spanish port of Barcelona, passing through Ibiza, Marseille, Genoa, Portofino, Monte Carlo and Porto Santo Stefano, before culminating in the picturesque Italian port of Civitavecchia.
