At the ceremony held in Berlin on March 6, 2024, the Port of Copenhagen was announced as Europe's Leading Cruise Port 2024 by the World Travel Awards.
The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
Copenhagen won the award as Europe's Leading Cruise Port in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and now in 2024.
The award was accepted in Berlin by Luis de Carvalho, Commercial Director of Cruises at the Port of Copenhagen Malmö (CMP): “I would like to express my enormous gratitude to all the voters, including passengers, cruise lines, tourism and travel industry professionals, and a special thank you to our partners at CruiseCopenhagen, colleagues at CMP, and all the local businesses and stakeholders who work every day to offer our cruise guests wonderful and memorable experiences. This award is for Copenhagen.”

Strategically located as a gateway to the Baltic Sea and the Nordic and North Atlantic countries, Copenhagen has excellent infrastructure and experience to support cruise operations.
The destination boasts a well-connected international airport, flexible facilities at Ocean Quay's three acclaimed cruise terminals, and central facilities at Langelinie Pier and Nordre Toldbod.
In 2023, Copenhagen warmly welcomed over 750,000 visitors and nearly 300 cruise ships. Similar figures are expected for 2024, with cruise bookings year-round and more than 50 cruise ship calls between October 2024 and April 2025 – a rare occurrence in Northern Europe.
In 2024, Copenhagen will have 10 inaugural cruise ship calls, including Queen Anne, Mein Schiff 7, Ocean Albatross, Azamara Onward and Villa Vey Odyssey.
