Delivered to Viking in February 2019, the Viking Jupiter recently celebrated its fifth year in service. The 47,000-ton vessel debuted as the sixth ocean-going ship in the Viking fleet.
Following the Viking Orion, built in 2018, the Jupiter was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona (Italy).
Just a few weeks after its delivery, the ship kicked off its inaugural season in southern Europe.
The Jupiter's maiden voyage, departing from Civitavecchia (Italy) and arriving in Barcelona (Spain), lasted seven nights and included visits to other ports in Italy, France and Monaco, such as Livorno, Monte Carlo, Marseille and Sete.
With itineraries through Greece, Israel, Cyprus, Montenegro and Croatia, the ship continued sailing through the Mediterranean until the end of April.
Next, the Viking Jupiter offered a summer program in northern Europe before repositioning to South America for its first winter season.
Marking Viking's debut in the region, the Viking Jupiter offered a series of 17-night cruises to the Chilean Fjords and Patagonia between December 2019 and February 2020.
With similar itineraries, the Viking Jupiter will spend the summer of 2024 in the Mediterranean, with cruises of seven to 28 nights from Spain, Italy, Türkiye and Greece.
In November, the ship will return to South America for its fourth winter program in the region. In addition to regular itineraries to Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands, the program includes transatlantic voyages to Brazil, Cape Verde, and Morocco.
According to the Fincantieri shipyard, the Jupiter has been built in accordance with the latest navigation standards and is equipped with the most modern safety systems, including the ability to return safely to port.
The ship also offers 465 cabins, as well as several public areas and features, including an infinity pool, a glass-enclosed winter garden, a two-deck observation lounge, and much more.
