This integration of Power Knot LFC biodigesters and WEP effluent pumps on board the Sun Princess represents a significant step towards sustainable waste management practices in the cruise industry.
LFC biodigesters are food waste treatment systems that use aerobic digestion to break down food waste into water, reducing the need for conventional methods and thus contributing to a considerable reduction in both costs and environmental impact.
These units are strategically placed in key areas of the ship, such as the kitchen or garbage room, where food waste is processed to improve operations.
Each LFC biodigester is accompanied by a WEP effluent pump, which is used to transport the effluent to a suitable location for easy shipment to the ship's onboard treatment facility.
