MSC Cruises will change the departures to Southampton of the MSC Virtuosa from summer 2024 to introduce more mini-cruises.
MSC's Vice President of International Sales, Antonio Paradiso, said that demand for mini-cruises, defined as three- to five-night getaways, was outpacing longer 10- and 14-night cruises.
Paradiso confirmed that the new MSC Virtuosa itineraries from Southampton will be introduced in peak season: June and July 2024.
“Short cruises have proven very popular this year, so we need to increase their number next year. For me, it's the quickest way to attract new cruisers. I see three-, four-, and five-night cruises selling out within days of going on sale“.
Paradiso also noted that mini-cruises to Cherbourg, Ireland, and Amsterdam were attracting a younger age group and, above all, first-time cruisers.
“I see that there is a demographic group, especially the younger generation, that prefers this type of vacation,” he says.
He added that he is currently reviewing some of the itineraries for MSC Virtuosa in the summer of 2024 in order to meet the demand of these new customers.
“I am replacing some of the longer cruises with shorter cruises for departures in June and July of next year“.
