Silversea celebrated the launch of its second Nova-class vessel, the Silver Ray, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and is now preparing for its debut.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the ship's construction, representing the project's progress toward its final stages. Now, 15 months after the first steel cutting, the Silver Ray is scheduled to make its debut in the Mediterranean in June.
In keeping with shipbuilding traditions, Captain Alessandro Zanello, Master of the Silver Ray, welded a newly minted commemorative coin to a wall on the pool deck, as a symbol of good luck.

“Having reached the important milestone of the launch, we are now nearing completion of the Silver Ray. The Meyer team is now working on preparing this beautiful vessel for its upcoming sea trials,” said Thorsten Kroes, Project Manager at Meyer Werft.

With pioneering energy efficiency standards, the Silver Nova and Silver Ray are 40% more energy efficient than required international standards and regulations. Onboard, a variety of enhancements include new venues and suite options, new Otium wellness experiences and amenities, and enhancements to the SALT culinary program.
The Silver Ray will soon embark on a journey of approximately 32 kilometers up the Ems River to the North Sea before its sea trials, a unique voyage due to the narrowness of the waterway. It is scheduled to enter service in June 2024, spending its maiden season in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic in December.
