The Tenerife Auditorium hosted the 2024 Cruise Excellence Awards Gala last night, which brought together more than 250 guests including important executives from cruise companies, local authorities, tour operators, shipping agents, ports, travel agents, professionals, businesspeople and suppliers from the sector.
The guests enjoyed an entertaining gala directed and presented by the comedian and showman "Sr. Corrales", and enlivened by the artist DYVINETZ among others.
Virginia López Valiente, CEO of Cruises News Media Group, highlighted that 2023 was a very important year for the sector, marked by significant growth. The industry has adapted well in advance to new social, environmental, technological, and innovation requirements. This year, the awards also incorporated new voting categories, and the winners are as follows:

- Best cruise line for your first cruise – Costa Cruises
- Best ship in the Mediterranean – MSC World Europe
- Best family cruise line – Royal Caribbean International
- Best premium cruise line – Celebrity Cruises

- Best ship in Northern Europe – MSC Euribia
- Best entertainment – Royal Caribbean International
- Best value for money – Costa Cruises
- Best itinerary – Norwegian Prima
- Best remote-exotic itinerary – Princess Cruises
- Best cuisine – Oceania Cruises
- Improved brand image among consumers – MSC Cruises
- Best brand recognition among travel agencies – Royal Caribbean International
- Best river cruise company operating in Europe – CroisiEurope
- Best Exotic River Cruise – Amawaterways
- Best expedition cruise line – Silversea Cruises
- Best Round the World Trip – Oceania Crises
Likewise, Cruises News Media Group presented its special recognitions to Virgin Voyages, Windstar Cruises and Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services for the celebration of their 20th anniversary.
Ports of Tenerife also presented awards to several local companies and institutions, both for their commitment to Tenerife and for their humanitarian and social work.
The Cruise Excellence Awards, a brand of CruisesNews Media Group, have chosen Tenerife's capital city for the second year running, following previous editions in cities such as Barcelona, Palma, Málaga, Cartagena, A Coruña, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Winners of the Cruise Excellence Awards are selected by cruise passengers and travel agencies through online voting, and awards are given in a total of 18 categories.
This edition has been promoted and sponsored by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in collaboration with other public and private organizations such as Puertos del Estado, Fred Olsen Express, Loro Parque Animal Embassy, Turismo de Tenerife, Cabildo de Tenerife, Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Sociedad de Desarrollo, Puertos Canarios and Turismo de las Islas Canarias.
