Seabourn has announced its expedition team for its Antarctic voyages aboard the Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit.
The leaders of Seabourn's Expedition Team, specializing in fields such as geology, wildlife biology, volcanology, ornithology and conservation, will lead Seabourn's expeditions to Antarctica, according to the company.
“We worked tirelessly to assemble a truly elite team of talented, world-renowned experts with diverse backgrounds, including being among the world’s best expedition kayakers, starring in a BBC series, serving 20 years in the Royal Navy, and teaching at California State University,” said Natalya Leahy, president of Seabourn.
“Our goal was to curate extraordinary experiences for these once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and our experts bring these unique destinations to life. From guided tours and onboard lectures to conversations over lunch or dinner, we believe these interactions are what make Seabourn expeditions so special.”
The Expedition Teams aboard the Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit will offer many opportunities to observe wildlife and will guide experiences through Zodiac cruises, kayaking, and hiking.
The teams also have underwater pilots who will take guests below sea level through the U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7, capable of descending to 300 meters.
These onboard experts will also share their knowledge of the history, ecology, and culture of their respective regions.
Seabourn Expedition Leaders include:
- Juan Restrepo – graduate in geology;
- Luciano “Luqui” Bernacchi – worked as a mountain guide, ski guide, naturalist guide and ornithological guide throughout Argentina;
- Dominic “Dom” Del Rosario – worked on ships for the past 20 years, including expedition voyages to Antarctica, the Arctic, the Russian Far East, Australia’s Kimberley, Asia and the South Pacific;
- Nicki D'Souza – with over 25 years of experience in expedition cruises;
- Adam Jenkins – field biologist with NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Antarctic Program;
- Ignacio “Iggy” Rojas – has 20 years of experience in expedition travel, including leading 20 uninterrupted seasons in Antarctica.
